While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose very little or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated with considerable health issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in water, food, and many other everyday products.
