Though many chemicals in cosmetic products pose very little or no danger, several dozen have been linked to significant medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and several other ordinary items. Still, no group of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Heritage Eyeshadow (Monument). While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics almost certainly pose little risk, being exposed to some is associated with significant health concerns, including cancer.
