Although most chemicals in cosmetic products present very little or absolutely no risk, some have been linked with severe health problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals invade a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other ordinary goods. Yet, no group of consumer goods is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including Pineapple of my Eye eye & cheek palette. Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly present little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with serious health concerns, including cancer.
