Though most chemicals in cosmetic products present limited or no threat, some are linked to serious medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through the skin and inhalation, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and various other everyday items. But, no sector of consumer items is accountable to less government management than cosmetics, including Pineapple of my Eye eye & cheek palette. Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics likely present very little risk, exposure to some has been associated with worrying health problems, including cancer.
