While many chemicals in cosmetic products present little or zero threat, several dozen have been associated to severe medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and various other common items.
