While most chemicals in cosmetic products present little or no risk, dozens are associated to substantial medical issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other everyday goods. Yet, no classification of consumer goods is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including COCOA BLEND (INFUSION). While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly pose very little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with major health problems, such as cancer.
