While the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products present little or absolutely no threat, several are associated with serious medical problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and various other ordinary items. But, no group of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including H2O gloss lip gloss.
