While many chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or no risk, several dozen are linked with serious health conditions, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other everyday goods. Still, no classification of consumer goods is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Volume Mascara 01-03.
