Although many chemicals in beauty products pose hardly any or no threat, several dozen are associated to considerable medical conditions, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and many other commonly used goods. Yet, no category of consumer goods is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 1.
