While many chemicals in cosmetic products present very little or no threat, dozens are linked with severe medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other everyday items. Still, no type of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 10. While most of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products most likely present minimal risk, subjection to a few has been associated with substantial health problems, including cancer.
