Chemicals in cosmetics can enter your body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and several other everyday products. However, no group of consumer products is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 10.
