Although many chemicals in cosmetic products present little or zero risk, several have been linked with substantial medical conditions, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and lots of other ordinary products. But, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 11. Though most of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood pose very little risk, being exposed to some has been associated with worrying health concerns, including cancer.
