Although many chemicals in cosmetics pose hardly any or absolutely no threat, several dozen have been linked with significant health conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and lots of other everyday items. Still, no type of consumer items is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 12. Although most of the chemicals in cosmetics likely present minimal risk, exposure to a few has been linked to worrying health conditions, including cancer.
