While many chemicals in beauty products present hardly any or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated with substantial medical problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other ordinary goods. Still, no category of consumer goods is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 13.
