Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food and many other everyday products. But, no sector of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 14.
