Though many chemicals in beauty products present very little or zero risk, dozens have been linked to substantial health issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and many other everyday goods. But, no group of consumer goods is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 14. Though most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics in all likelihood pose very little risk, subjection to some has been associated with major health disorders, including cancer.
