Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and lots of other ordinary items. Yet, no kind of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my blusher (cream) 1.
