Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present minimal or absolutely no threat, dozens have been linked with severe medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and various other common goods. Yet, no type of consumer goods is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including my blusher (cream) 1. Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics likely pose very little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with serious health disorders, including cancer.
