Though many chemicals in beauty products pose minimal or no danger, some have been associated to substantial health problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other everyday items. But, no area of consumer items is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including my blusher (cream) 1. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics most likely present minimal risk, exposure to some has been associated with worrying health disorders, including cancer.
