While many chemicals in beauty products pose minimal or no danger, several dozen have been linked to significant medical issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other common items. But, no type of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including my highlighter 1. While most of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly present very little risk, subjection to a few is associated with substantial health concerns, such as cancer.
