While the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose hardly any or zero danger, several are associated with significant medical problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and lots of other ordinary items. However, no type of consumer items is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 17. While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics very likely present little risk, being exposed to some has been associated with significant health conditions, such as cancer.
