While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose minimal or no danger, several dozen have been linked to substantial medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and several other commonly used goods. But, no classification of consumer goods is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 18. Though most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood pose little risk, being exposed to some is associated with critical health issues, such as cancer.
