Although most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose slight or absolutely no danger, several dozen are associated to substantial health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and many other everyday goods. Yet, no area of consumer goods is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 19. Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics very likely present minimal risk, exposure to some is linked to substantial health conditions, including cancer.
