Although most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present slight or no threat, several dozen have been linked to significant medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and several other ordinary items. However, no area of consumer items is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 25. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics in all likelihood pose minimal risk, subjection to a few is linked to worrying health conditions, including cancer.
