Although most chemicals in beauty products pose limited or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated with significant medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food and various other everyday products. Still, no category of consumer products is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 26. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products very likely present little risk, being exposed to some is linked to serious health concerns, such as cancer.
