Though the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose hardly any or absolutely no danger, some have been linked to serious medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and several other everyday items. But, no group of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 29. Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics in all likelihood present little risk, subjection to some is linked to substantial health issues, including cancer.
