Though most chemicals in beauty products present limited or zero risk, several dozen have been associated to significant medical problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in water, food, and many other commonly used goods. Still, no classification of consumer goods is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 29. While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood present little risk, being exposed to a few has been linked to worrying health conditions, such as cancer.
