Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present limited or zero risk, some have been associated to significant health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals invade a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other common products. But, no type of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 31. Though many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly pose very little risk, exposure to a few has been linked to major health problems, such as cancer.
