Though most chemicals in cosmetic products pose limited or absolutely no danger, some have been associated with severe medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and several other ordinary products. Still, no type of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 33. Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics most likely present very little risk, exposure to a few is associated with substantial health concerns, such as cancer.
