Though most chemicals in cosmetics pose minimal or absolutely no threat, dozens have been associated to considerable health conditions, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other common goods. However, no classification of consumer goods is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 34. While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics in all likelihood present very little risk, exposure to a few is associated with serious health disorders, such as cancer.
