Although many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present limited or absolutely no risk, several have been associated to considerable health problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and a lot of other commonly used products. However, no classification of consumer products is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (shimmer) 37.
