While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose slight or zero risk, several dozen have been associated to considerable medical problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and several other common products.
