Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products present limited or no risk, some have been linked to substantial health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and various other common products. Yet, no kind of consumer products is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (eye primer). Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly pose little risk, exposure to some is associated with serious health conditions, including cancer.
