Though the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose limited or zero threat, several dozen are associated with substantial health issues, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other common goods. Still, no type of consumer goods is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (eye primer). Though most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood pose very little risk, your exposure to a few has been linked to significant health problems, such as cancer.
