While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose hardly any or no risk, several have been linked to substantial medical conditions, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other common goods. But, no type of consumer goods is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (eye primer).
