Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose limited or zero threat, dozens have been linked to serious health issues, such as neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and many other everyday products. Still, no category of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 1. While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics likely present little risk, subjection to some is associated with significant health issues, including cancer.
