While most chemicals in cosmetics present very little or no risk, some have been associated to substantial health issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals get into a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and various other common items. Still, no classification of consumer items is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 4. While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products most likely pose little risk, being exposed to some has been linked to major health disorders, such as cancer.
