Though many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present very little or no threat, some are linked with serious health conditions, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and various other everyday items. But, no classification of consumer items is subject to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 6.
