Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose very little or no threat, several dozen are linked to substantial medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other commonly used products. But, no group of consumer products is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 11. While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products very likely pose little risk, subjection to some is associated with substantial health concerns, including cancer.
