Though many chemicals in beauty products present hardly any or zero threat, some have been linked to serious health conditions, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose similar dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other ordinary items.
