Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose little or no threat, dozens have been associated to severe medical conditions, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter your body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and lots of other ordinary products. But, no area of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 13. Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products very likely present little risk, exposure to some is linked to substantial health issues, such as cancer.
