While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present limited or absolutely no risk, dozens have been linked with serious health issues, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in water, food, and a lot of other ordinary items. Still, no area of consumer items is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 14. While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products most likely pose very little risk, being exposed to some has been linked to significant health disorders, including cancer.
