Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present little or no threat, several dozen are linked to substantial medical problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food and many other everyday goods. But, no area of consumer goods is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 16. While many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products very likely present minimal risk, being exposed to some is linked to worrying health conditions, such as cancer.
