Though the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose limited or zero danger, dozens are associated with substantial health problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other ordinary items. However, no category of consumer items is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 23. Though many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood pose very little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with major health concerns, such as cancer.
