Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose minimal or absolutely no risk, dozens are associated to serious health issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other commonly used items. But, no group of consumer items is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 23. While many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products very likely pose little risk, exposure to some is linked to critical health disorders, such as cancer.
