Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present minimal or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated with considerable medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other commonly used products. Yet, no category of consumer products is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 25. Though many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely pose little risk, exposure to a few is associated with significant health conditions, including cancer.
