Although most chemicals in cosmetic products pose minimal or zero threat, dozens have been linked with significant health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals get into a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and lots of other everyday goods. Yet, no category of consumer goods is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 27. While many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely pose very little risk, subjection to some has been associated with worrying health concerns, such as cancer.
