Although most chemicals in beauty products present slight or no risk, several dozen are associated to significant health conditions, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and several other common goods. But, no type of consumer goods is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 27. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly present little risk, subjection to a few has been associated with worrying health conditions, such as cancer.
