Although many chemicals in beauty products pose minimal or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated to significant medical issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals get into a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other commonly used products. Still, no sector of consumer products is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 28. Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely pose very little risk, exposure to a few is associated with worrying health conditions, including cancer.
