Though most chemicals in cosmetic products pose minimal or absolutely no risk, several have been associated with serious medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and various other commonly used items. But, no category of consumer items is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (matte) 28. While many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products probably present very little risk, being exposed to some has been associated with substantial health concerns, such as cancer.
