Although most chemicals in cosmetic products pose little or zero risk, some have been linked to substantial medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and several other commonly used goods. Still, no category of consumer goods is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 29. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products very likely present little risk, exposure to a few is linked to significant health problems, including cancer.
