Though most chemicals in cosmetics present hardly any or zero threat, dozens have been associated with significant health issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other everyday items. But, no area of consumer items is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (matte) 32. Though most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics almost certainly pose minimal risk, exposure to a few is associated with major health issues, including cancer.
