While most chemicals in cosmetics pose limited or absolutely no risk, several have been associated to severe medical problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics invade a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in water, food, and various other everyday products. However, no area of consumer products is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 1. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products most likely present minimal risk, subjection to a few is linked to critical health conditions, including cancer.
