While most chemicals in cosmetics present very little or no threat, several dozen have been associated with serious health conditions, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food and a lot of other ordinary items. But, no type of consumer items is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 1. While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly present minimal risk, subjection to some has been linked to worrying health concerns, such as cancer.
