Although many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or zero threat, several dozen are associated to significant health issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and a lot of other ordinary items. However, no category of consumer items is accountable to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 6.
