While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose minimal or no risk, several are associated to significant health issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other commonly used products. However, no classification of consumer products is accountable to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 8. While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly present minimal risk, being exposed to a few has been associated with substantial health concerns, including cancer.
