Though many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present little or absolutely no danger, some are linked to serious medical conditions, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter your body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other commonly used products.
