Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present little or no danger, some have been associated to severe medical issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other everyday products. But, no type of consumer products is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 11. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood present minimal risk, exposure to some is associated with serious health concerns, including cancer.
