Although many chemicals in beauty products pose very little or no danger, several dozen are linked with serious medical issues, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and many other common goods. Yet, no sector of consumer goods is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 12. While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely present little risk, subjection to a few has been associated with major health concerns, such as cancer.
