While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present limited or absolutely no danger, dozens have been associated with considerable health conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in water, food, and many other ordinary items. Yet, no group of consumer items is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 13. While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics likely pose little risk, exposure to a few is linked to substantial health issues, such as cancer.
