Although most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose hardly any or absolutely no danger, several have been associated with significant health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and various other everyday products. However, no area of consumer products is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 13. Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics probably pose little risk, being exposed to a few is associated with worrying health problems, including cancer.
