Though many chemicals in cosmetic products present minimal or no threat, some are linked with considerable medical issues, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food and lots of other everyday items. Still, no area of consumer items is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 15.
