While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose very little or no risk, some are associated to significant health conditions, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in water, food, and many other common products. Still, no area of consumer products is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal care products, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 16. Though many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly present very little risk, being exposed to some has been linked to worrying health problems, including cancer.
