Cosmetic chemicals get into your body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and a lot of other everyday products. However, no category of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including my eyeshadow (glitter) 20.
